In the not so distant future boxing will be relevant again. Suspend your disbelief for a second, boxing will be popular because it will be robots! Charlie Kenton (Jackman) is an ex boxer, now promoter with horrible decision making abilities. He is broke, and always looking for a large payday. This gets him in trouble with many people in the early part of the film. Real Steel isn’t about the robots, it’s Charlie’s story of redemption.
The Hollywood Reporter has said that Sony issued a letter to cinemas stating that it will no longer be flipping the bill for the 3D glasses for its movies. As of May 1st 2012 theaters will have to supply their own glasses for Sony movies. This would save Sony $5-$10 million per film. Many other studios have also begun to talk about doing something similar.
X-Men Destiny [x-men-des-tuh-nee]
1. A very short, repetitive, and uninspired third person action RPG created by Silicon Knights.
2. A game with horrible fighting animations that cause you to get hit while your character is finishing them.
3. An unfinished mess; an insult to those who purchase this game.
Comics Alliance posted a couple pics of Anne Hathaway dressed in the the traditional Catwoman leather that brings all the boys to the yard. This is a much different look than the first image we got of her on the Batpod with the glasses. As we all know Nolan likes to keep things as realistic, and purposeful as possible, so it wasn’t a stretch to believe the first image was his interpretation (sans glasses) of the classic character.
What do you think?

Star Wars: The Old Republic will be put to rest, err launched on December 20, 2011. The Old Republic is going the way of WoW and starting with a $14.99 monthly subscription fee. This was an obvious choice due to the popularity of the franchise. At launch they will get several million subcribers, but as Jim, Alex, and I discussed on the latest The Lost Level episode, Bioware really should have started with the Freemium businness model in order to sustain a multi-million install base.
Drive is one of those movies that can divide an audience. On one hand, it is an art driven piece that has some beautiful shots and emotion. On the other, it has a grind house rawness to the action scenes that make you almost uncomfortable. Nicolas Winding Refn, the director tries to blend both styles, but only succeeds in bits and pieces.
Some interesting news on the Mass Effect movie emerged yesterday. Legendary Pictures mentioned that a Mass Effect movie is indeed in the works, and it will feature a male Shepard. The interesting part is that it will be a different story than the games. They are putting every effort to making sure they are honoring the vast universe that was created for Mass Effect, and Bioware is working closely with Legendary Pictures on the project.
A crazy thing happened on the way to making this cast…
The Lost Level: Episode 13 Turn My Headphones Up! almost wasn’t made due to Chris failing to make the cast on Sunday. I take full blame. I’m sorry. It was decided that we’d just wait for Gzep to get back from his vacation, and record again next week.
However, when I awoke at 5am to go to work I was greeted by this Netflix email, and the wheels in my head started spinning. I wanted to talk about it, I scrambled to see who would be available to cast. Unfortunately, Adam had prior commitments. So Episode 13 isn’t your typical episode.
